Bridge Program: RMT to Manual Osteopath

Many Registered Massage Therapists eventually reach a point where they want to work smarter, reduce physical strain on their bodies, specialize in more complex cases, and increase their income potential. Manual Osteopathy offers a broader assessment approach, additional treatment tools, and access to an additional billing designation that many patients actively seek.

I have partnered with Echo Ridge Academy to offer this bridge program, which is available exclusively to RMTs due to their extensive understanding of anatomy, physiology, clinical theory, and orthopedic assessment.

The goal is not to start from the beginning, but to help therapists build on their existing foundation while navigating the rapidly growing — and often confusing — landscape of Manual Osteopathy in North America.

There are several educational paths students can take to become a Manual Osteopath in North America.

The WHO classifies Manual Osteopathy as Type 1 and Type 2.

Type 1 is a 3-4 year full time program. Costing approx $100,000.

Type 2 is 1-2 years part time add on to health care background. Costing approximately $30,000-$40,00

I have partnered with Echo Ridge Academy to offer training in the core classes of classical osteopathy, adding in the uniquness around the needs of experienced RMTs. During my years teaching within an osteopathic program, I spent much of my time mentoring massage therapists who were struggling to integrate osteopathic principles into their already established soft tissue and orthopedic skillsets.

For many RMTs, the challenge is not learning osteopathy itself — it is learning how to blend two very different treatment philosophies together. Kinesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare providers often transition more easily because clinical osteopathy becomes their primary hands-on approach from the beginning. RMTs, however, already possess highly developed palpation skills, soft tissue knowledge, orthopedic assessment experience, and existing treatment patterns that cannot — and should not — be ignored.

This program was built to help bridge that gap by teaching therapists how to integrate osteopathic principles into their current practice in a way that feels practical, sustainable, and clinically effective.

Is this Program right for you?

~We have found that RMTs often do not qualify for Provincial Grant funding due to full-time wages, and they do not want to give up working to pursue an education upgrade. This program is tailored for each student’s needs and timeline.

~There is no rush. Complete the program in 1 year or take 4, the choice is yours.

~Pay for courses as you go. Each module is $800 (12 modules in total)

~Classes focus on current clinical integration rather than repeating material already taught at Massage School.

~Credits are given for Upledger and Barral classes, leaving time for clinical mastery without repeating material.

~Take Advantage of your current clients for clinical hours
